Obsidian is molten lava that cooled so quickly it had no time to crystalize. It is lustrous volcanic glass.

Metaphysical: Black obsidian is a strongly protective stone. It repels negativity and disperses unloving thoughts. A powerful stone without boundaries or limitations that is strongly grounding, protective and shields against negativity.
